Keep Your AC Running. Don’t Wait for a Breakdown.
San Antonio’s cooling season runs from April to October—sometimes longer. That’s six-plus months of your AC working nonstop, dealing with 100°+ days, humidity that won’t quit, and all the cedar pollen, oak pollen, and dust this city throws at it.
A tune-up catches the small stuff before it turns into a mid-July emergency. We see it every summer: a $15 capacitor that could’ve been caught during maintenance turns into a $300 after-hours repair because nobody checked it. Don’t be that call.
Apollo Air Heating & Cooling HVAC Services:

A single AC tune-up in San Antonio typically runs $89–$150 depending on the company and what they include. Ours covers the full inspection and cleaning above—not a stripped-down version.

Additional systems are $99/year each.
We also offer a Connected CosmicCare plan at $299/year that adds an Apollo Air smart thermostat with 24/7 performance monitoring, a plumbing maintenance visit, a water heater flush, and $75 in comfort credits. What We Actually Check During a Tune-Up
This isn’t a quick “15-point visual inspection” where the tech glances at your system and hands you a bill. Here’s what our guys actually do.
Airflow and filtration
- Verify blower motor operation
- Check and replace air filter if needed
- Inspect ductwork connections for leaks
- Measure airflow at supply and return vents
Refrigerant system
- Measure refrigerant pressures on suction and discharge lines
- Inspect refrigerant lines for damage or insulation wear
- Look for signs of refrigerant leaks
Electrical components
- Test capacitor strength with a multimeter
- Inspect contactor for pitting or wear
- Tighten all wiring connections
- Measure amp draw on compressor and fan motors
Coils and drainage
- Clean evaporator coil (indoor unit)
- Clean condenser coil (outdoor unit)
- Flush condensate drain line
- Check condensate pump if applicable
Controls and safety
- Verify thermostat calibration
- Test safety controls and shutoff switches
- Check system cycle times
- Write up a report with findings and recommendations
Why Maintenance Matters More Here Than Most Places
Your AC works harder. San Antonio systems run 10–14 hours a day during the summer. That’s 2,000+ hours of compressor runtime per cooling season—more than double what a system in Dallas or Austin sees.
- The humidity kills. With summer humidity between 60–80%, your system is pulling moisture nonstop. All that water has to drain somewhere. A clogged condensate line is one of the most common things that shuts systems down.
- Pollen and dust clog everything. Cedar season, live oak pollen, construction dust—San Antonio air is rough on coils and filters. A dirty condenser coil can cut your system’s efficiency by 20–30%.
- Capacitors don’t last as long here. High heat accelerates wear on electrical components. We catch weak capacitors during tune-ups before they fail when you need your AC most.
When Should I Schedule Maintenance?
March or early April is ideal—before the heat kicks in. That way your system’s ready to go when it matters, and if we find something that needs repair, you’ve got time to deal with it before the summer rush.
Missed the spring window? Call us anyway. Catching a problem mid-summer is still better than an August breakdown.
“Apollo Air Heating and Cooling are nothing but professional about their work. They are honest and do not try to over sell their products and services.”

AC Maintenance Questions
How often should I get my AC serviced?
Once a year minimum. If your system is 10+ years old, twice a year—once before cooling season and once before heating season—is worth the investment.
Does maintenance actually prevent breakdowns?
It doesn’t guarantee anything, but it catches the stuff that causes most breakdowns: weak capacitors, dirty coils, clogged drains, low refrigerant. We’d rather find those things during a $100 tune-up than a $400 emergency call.
What’s the difference between a tune-up and a maintenance plan?
A tune-up is a one-time visit. Our CosmicCare Membership is an annual plan—it includes up to 2 HVAC maintenance visits per year, plus no diagnostic fees during business hours, priority emergency service, 20% off repairs, and yearly comfort credits you can put toward future work. Starts at $199/year. If you’re staying in your home, it pays for itself fast.
Will this lower my electric bill?
Usually. Clean coils, proper refrigerant charge, and a fresh filter mean your system doesn’t work as hard. Most folks notice a difference on their CPS Energy bill during the peak summer months.
