Our Reviews
San Antonio Air Is Rough. Your Home Doesn’t Have to Be.
Between cedar fever in December, live oak pollen in March, summer humidity that breeds mold, and construction dust from all the new neighborhoods going up around town—the air inside your San Antonio home can actually be worse than the air outside. Your HVAC system is the biggest factor in what you’re breathing indoors.
Apollo Air offers a range of services to improve your indoor air quality and help your HVAC system handle what San Antonio throws at it.
Apollo Air Heating & Cooling HVAC Services:
How We Can Help
Air duct cleaning
Dust, pollen, pet hair, and debris build up inside your ductwork over time. Cleaning it out improves airflow and removes contaminants your filter already missed. We recommend duct cleaning every 3–5 years, or sooner if you’ve renovated, moved into a new home, or notice dust around your vents.
Air filter upgrades
Switching from a cheap fiberglass filter to a quality MERV 8–11 pleated filter is the single most cost-effective air quality improvement you can make. We’ll help you pick the right one for your system.
Coil cleaning
A dirty evaporator coil is a breeding ground for mold and bacteria, especially in our humidity. Clean coils mean better air quality and better system efficiency.
Duct sealing
Leaky ducts don’t just waste energy—they pull in unfiltered air from your attic or wall cavities. Sealing those leaks improves air quality and can cut energy waste by 20–30%.
UV air purification
UV germicidal lights installed inside your HVAC system kill mold, bacteria, and viruses as air passes through. Especially effective in humid climates like ours.
Whole-home dehumidification
If your house feels clammy even with the AC running, a dedicated dehumidifier brings humidity down to a comfortable 40–50% range. Less mold risk, more comfort, and you can set the thermostat higher while feeling just as cool.
What Makes San Antonio Different
- Cedar fever (December–February). Mountain cedar pollen counts here rank among the highest in the country. These tiny particles get into everything, including your HVAC system.
- Live oak pollen (March–April). San Antonio’s oak canopy is beautiful—and produces massive amounts of pollen that coats your outdoor unit and gets pulled into your ducts.
- Humidity and mold (May–October). Summer humidity above 70% means mold can grow on your evaporator coil, inside your ductwork, and in the condensate drain pan.
- Construction and development dust. New neighborhoods popping up across the north side, far west side, and out toward Cibolo mean fine particulate in the air for miles.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I have an air quality problem?
Allergy symptoms that get worse indoors, musty smells, dust that comes back fast after cleaning, condensation on windows, or family members getting headaches at home—all signs. If multiple people in the house are symptomatic, it’s worth investigating.
What’s the fastest fix?
Change your air filter. Seriously—a clean MERV 8–11 filter replaced every 60 days has the biggest impact for the lowest cost. After that, schedule a coil cleaning and duct cleaning for a deeper reset.
Is duct cleaning worth it?
In San Antonio? Yes—especially with pets, recent renovations, or if you’ve never had it done. It won’t solve everything, but it clears out what your filter can’t catch retroactively.
